Back Pain, Neck Pain & Headaches Orem Utah
Back pain in Orem Utah with neck pain and headaches are some of the most common conditions that cause people to look to medications for relief.
Research suggests that 39 million people experience persistent pain, which is pain that has lasted longer than three months. 39 million people translates into 19% of the population! That suggests that one out of five people that you interact with today are experiencing pain.
There is evidence to suggest that pain is felt and experienced differently between men and women. It's probably worth pointing out here that pain is a private and personal experience. What is pain to one person can be nothing to another. Never compare your pain or lack of pain to another - we're all different.
There is also evidence to suggest that women feel pain more intensely than men. It's this fact that leads me to the article I wish to share today.
In this article, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, researchers Karin A. Mack, PhD, Christopher M. Jones, PharmD, Leonard J. Paulozzi, MD found that overdose deaths among women have increased steadily.
In the year 2010, a total of 15,323 women died due to drug overdose. They found that drug over dose deaths associated with opioid pain relievers increased by five fold from 1999 to 2010. In men over the same time period, the same drug association produced a three fold increase - alarming for sure, but not as much as in women.
In total numbers more men die annually from drug overdoses, but the evidence says that a greater percentage of women died due to overdoses over the years examined.
I've written extensively on a variety of pain conditions. If you're in pain, taking pain medications and want to stop we can help. Or if you're experiencing pain and don't want to start the cycle of pain killers and subject yourself to the risks associated we can help you too.
